In this version, the side area of the SAFE® LX1000 Tube remains without a visible 1D or HR side code. The unique 2D code on the tube bottom remains the main basis for automated sample identification. The free area can be used for individual markings, project references or customer-specific coding concepts.
2D Codes of SAFE® LX1000 Tubes in the Rack
The underside of the filled SBS 96 rack shows the bottom 2D codes of the individual SAFE® LX1000 Tubes. This coding enables unique sample assignment directly in the rack and supports automated scanning with suitable rack readers. Even at high storage density, each sample remains reliably traceable.

The LVL Tube Laser Marker TLM 864:
Although the automation-friendly Data-Matrix code on the bottom of storage tubes has been standard for many years—and has greatly simplified sample handling—many users want to mark the tubes with their specific information. At the same time, they want to move away from time-consuming and unreliable labeling methods.
For this need, LVL has developed a fully automatic tube laser marker. The TLM 864 can automatically laser-mark SAFE® tubes in SBS 96, SBS 48, and SBS 24 formats from two sides and link the information in a database with the 2D code previously lasered during production. Up to 500 tubes per hour can be coded from nine SBS/ANSI positions.
